'L' Logo Contest
Participants:
- Entry to this contest is open to all individuals.
Purpose:
- The purpose of this logo contest is to establish a graphically
appealing letter ‘L’ that pro-life groups across Canada
would have the option of incorporating into their own logo. Ideally,
the purpose would be for groups to incorporate the letter ‘L’
into the word Life in the title of their organization. This would
enable all pro-life groups to have a common unifying symbol.
- This ‘L’ would essentially be used on letterhead,
business cards etc.
Task:
- Create a graphically appealing letter ‘L’ design
that could be incorporated into the word LIFE by pro-life organizations.
Note: the word life does not always appear at the beginning of
an organization name. For instance, some organizations are ‘Right
to Life’ some are Pro-Life etc.
Guidelines:
- The letter ‘L’ design must graphically represent
the mission of LifeCanada as well as its affiliate and associate
members: to promote the sanctity of all human life from fertilization
to natural death through public education. To advocate for the
preborn, the disabled, the infirm and the elderly who are all
uniquely created by God.
- The design should be simple but unique, keeping in mind the
practical uses of the design on letterhead, business cards, promotional
material etc.
- Designs should be such that they remain clear and sharp if reduced,
enlarged, photocopied or faxed.
- Keep in mind that this design will be used in both colour and
grey scale.
- The design must be accompanied by a brief description of the
design elements and justification behind these elements.
- If the design is based on an existing font, the name of the
font must be included in the written explanation of the design
- Each design must be submitted in the following four formats:
- A colour version of the design that is a maximum of 7 inches
(at longest Axis) centered on a 8.5x11 inch standard white
paper
- A black and white version of the design that is a maximum
of 7 inches (at longest Axis) centered on a 8.5x11inch standard
white paper.
- A colour version of the design that is 1 inch at the longest
axis. (This design may be included at the bottom of the same
sheet of paper used for the black and white version described
above).
- A black and white version of the design that is 1 inch
at the longest axis. (This design may be included at the bottom
of the same sheet of paper used for the colour version described
above).
Submission Deadline and Details:
- All submissions must be received by May 1, 2006 to: LifeCanada;
376 Churchill Ave. N; Ottawa, ON: K1Z 5C3. Submissions will be
accepted via e-mail at info@lifecanada.org. All electronic submissions
must be sent in either .JPG or .GIF format. Please note that LifeCanada
is not responsible for any difficulties encountered in electronic
submissions.
- All submissions must include a brief description of the design
elements and justification behind these elements.
- All submissions must include the designer’s: full name,
address, phone number and e-mail address
Prize:
- The winning submission will be incorporated into the word Life
and submitted to Canada Post as a possible postage stamp promoting
the simple word LIFE.
Copyright:
- All submissions will become the property of LifeCanada. Once
the ‘L’ logo design is submitted, the designer waives
all legal rights to the design.
