LifeCanada wishes to complement, rather than duplicate, the educational work carried out by other pro- life groups. Our objectives as listed below denote the complete range of our concerns and potential activity.
However, when and how such objectives are actually realized will depend on the goals and projects selected by our members and board of directors. Ultimately, we only wish to serve the real needs of the pro-life movement.
The object of LifeCanada is the establishment and operation of a national association of local and provincial educational pro-life groups across Canada for the purpose of
- promoting respect for all human life from fertilization to natural death;
- fostering and promoting public understanding in and knowledge of life issues, including, but not limited to, fetal development, abortion, new reproductive technologies, adoption, palliative care, euthanasia, physician-assisted suicide, human experimentation, post-abortion syndrome, chastity/ abstinence education and all other related issues affecting respect for human life;
- providing for the publication of information to its members for further dissemination and the holding of educational lectures, public and private meetings, seminars and conferences on life issues;
- providing a clearing-house of information to be shared amongst members for their collective benefit;
- acting as the public voice for its member groups on life issues of a national scope and co-ordinating na-tional educational and media campaigns;
- expediting the formation of local and provincial educational pro-life groups;
- hosting a national annual meeting of the members of the corporation and generally providing an on-going forum for the discussion of membership issues;
- establishing a library or collection of books or other publications, whether physical or electronic, dealing with life issues;
- contributing to the efficiency of its member groups and the effectiveness of their work by providing ad-vice and support services in the form of training and educational programs;
- co-operating and liaising with other organizations with similar objects in projects and activities that pro-mote respect for life;
- educating individuals on how to critically evaluate messages disseminated by the media, government authorities and agents, academia, and special interest groups, thereby enabling them to participate fully and effectively in discussions of life issues and public policy;
- undertaking or sponsoring all forms of scientific and social science research, and public policy analysis relating to life issues;
- rendering assistance to governments at all levels by supplying information collected as a result of re-search carried on or gathered under the auspices of the corporation;
- undertaking or sponsoring the development of, and promoting the use of, educational programs in the field of human sexuality that are age-appropriate, parent-centered, and effective in developing good character in young persons;
- providing or sponsoring the provision of counselling and referral services to the public with respect to unforeseen pregnancies, post-abortion syndrome, post-adoption difficulties, and post-birth difficulties;
- making representations to governments at all levels, government agencies, and school boards on mat-ters of public policy relating to controversial life issues, within the limits of the Income Tax Act;
- establishing and maintaining suitable quarters and facilities for the Corporation to further its objects;
- and rendering assistance to its member groups as their agent or representative in administering their charitable activities, within the limits of the Income Tax Act.
