Canadians
Host International Pro-life Events
By Barbara McAdorey
In this issue,
we focus on two international, pro-life events.
First, we
look back to July when pilgrims from around the world visited Toronto
to celebrate World Youth Day and to take part in numerous pro-life
activities.
Those of us
not fortunate enough to have been in attendance at World Youth Day
had to make due with watching the events unfold on our TV screens.
What an inspiring sight that was! So many young people coming together
in love and peace and solidarity - I wanted to be young again!
Numerous pro-life
organizations took part in World Youth Day, and we are indeed fortunate
to be able to include some of their stories here. I hope you will
feel as uplifted as I did after reading them. I truly believe these
young people can make Canada and the world a more humane place.
Second, we
look ahead to the fall and the upcoming International Forum, "Creating
a Culture of Life," sponsored by LifeCanada and Campaign Life Coalition,
to be held in Toronto, October 24-26. This is an event not to be
missed! Well known experts from around the world such as Fr. Neuhaus
from the US, Bert Dorenbos from Holland, and Dr. Sullivan from Canada
are just a few of the speakers who will inspire attendees to "create
a culture of life." Topics to be covered include euthanasia; bioethics;
the link between abortion, the Pill, and breast cancer; Stem Cell
Legislation; post-abortion complications; the Genocide Awareness
Project; how to create a culture of life at the UN, and more.
To give our
readers an idea of the type of pro-life work these speakers are
involved in, we include a sampling of their articles: Fr. Neuhaus
on Eugenics; Bert Dorenbos on the Dutch Euthanasia Law; and Dr.
Kahlenborn on the link between abortion and breast cancer.
May this upcoming
conference be as inspirational as the pro-life activities were at
World Youth Day!
